Dear Parents,
I hope that you all had a Happy holiday. We have come back to a cold spell that makes us think of the days ahead getting closer to spring.
We will have a long weekend holiday with the school closed January 18, 2010 to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Our Fifth grade students will have the opportunity to meet the author, Doreen Rappaport who is a writer of juvenile fiction and non-fiction on Friday, January 8, 2010.This visit is one of a series of visits to different grade levels by authors. These visits provide the opportunity for our students to see that authors are real people who share their writing problems with them just as our students work on their writing. The funding for these visits is provided by The Elementary Enrichment Committee which is a sub committee of the Harrison PTA Council. They provide equal enrichment activities for all of the Harrison schools on an equitable basis. Their work is a great asset to Parsons and the other schools in the district.
I would like to announce that our Superintendent Louis Wool has been selected by the The New York State Council of School Superintendents as the New York State School Superintendent of the Year. This school and the district have gained much by his excellent leadership. He is to be congratulated for this great honor.
Have a safe winter.
Sincerely,
Robert Torp
Principal
